KNK Recruiting, LLC is looking for a direct hire Medical Surgical Charge Registered Nurse - FT Nights for our targeted client located in the Decatur, Indiana area. 

Targeted Hourly Rate:  $29hr - $39hr (pay rate varies depending upon skills and experience level.
Hours: 5:45 pm-6:15 am (Every third weekend required)

This hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in Decatur, Indiana. It is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Inc The hospital offers a wide range of diagnostic, treatment, and healthcare programs, including 24-hour emergency care. It has been servicing the community for over 100 years.

Job Summary: 
The Medical Surgical Charge Nurse will oversee the daily operations of the medical-surgical department, ensuring that all patients receive high-quality, efficient care

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•    Monitors and collects data for compliance with standards of nursing practice regarding performance improvement and unit quality and safety indicators daily. 
•    Reviews the plans of care that are initiated to assure suitability on new admissions. 
•    Assists with the medication reconciliation process and orders upon admission, transfer, and discharge of all patients with primary RN. Assists &/or monitors both Med/Surg and ICU admissions, transfers and discharge on assigned shift. 
•    Assists Nurse Manager with risk analysis for the unit along with focus on problematic areas on the unit by performing daily chart review for appropriate documentation and compliance. 
•    Instructs and mentors with new RN’s and CNA’s to teach organizational workflow for delivery of efficient patient care. 
•    Observes staff performance of clinical skills and policy and procedure for compliance. 
•    Act as a liaison between physicians and Patient Care Services to provide staff education and re-education concerning observation verse inpatient admission and continued stay criteria. 
•    Assist Nurse Manager with continuing education of all staff: providing hands on demonstration, education and training while monitoring compliance of necessary clinical competence of current and new staff. 
•    Assists with implementation of new processes and continued compliance of staff. Performs direct patient care willingly and competently as needed or assigned. Takes patient assignment as needed or requested. 
•    Assists Nurse Manger with risk management assessment on admission and during patient hospitalization for pressure ulcer prevention, infection prevention and patient safety.
•    Reads physician orders on a daily basis with primary nurse caring for patient. 
•    Makes daily leadership rounds checking on patient’s care and monitoring for staff participation in hourly rounding. 
•    Coordinates Admissions and assigns bed for MED/SURG and ICU with the nursing supervisor to assist with unit flow. 
•    Relieves or coordinates breaks for all MED/SURG and ICU staff with assistance from House Supervisor or Lead Charge. 
•    Oversees completion of staff assignment sheet. Leads daily multidisciplinary (7am-7pm) or safety huddle (7pm-7am). 
•    Secondary responsibilities include: Assisting Nurse Manager with annual policy review and assist with the orientation program for new staff. 
•    The Charge Nurse will monitor defibrillator testing and keeps the orientation check list updated and current for all new staff.


Qualifications: 
•    RN in the State of Indiana.
•    BLS required.
•    ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire.
•    3-5 years of nursing experience preferred
